2008 UPA College Championships

The 2008 UPA College Ultimate Championships are a brought to you by the Ultimate Players Association.  Over 10,000 student athletes on more than 600 college teams from across North America entered the UPA College Championship Series in early April.  Two months later only the top college Ultimate teams from across North America will be left.  These teams will meet in Boulder, CO over 3 days to compete for the 2008 UPA College Championship.

The UPA would like to congratulate all the qualifying teams and welcome players, volunteers, and fans to beautiful Boulder, CO.  Find out all there is to know about the tournament, and if you can’t make it to the event, keep up with the action through this site.

Finals Air This Weekend - Highlights Online Now

The Women's and Open finals of the 2008 UPA College Ultimate Championships will air this weekend on CBS College Sports. In the meantime, you can check out edited versions of the shows and a highlight reel from the finals on the CBS Collegiate Nationals website. See the games in their entirety at the following times on CBS College Sports Network:

Wisconsin (Open), British Columbia (Women) Win College Championships

The Wisconsin Hodags won their second straight UPA College Open Championship, the first championship repeat in the Open Division since 1998. The University of British Columbia Thunderbirds earned the Women's College Championship, making 2008 the sixth straight year the Women's title has been claimed by a team from the powerful Northwest Region. Check out the write-ups on the results page for all of the details. Congratulations to the Wisconsin Hodags and British Columbia Thunderbirds!

College Championships to Air on Primetime Television

The UPA is excited to announce that CBS College Sports (formerly CSTV) will once again be covering the finals of the UPA College Championships. Make sure to tell your friends, family and teammates to check out these broadcasts and see Ultimate showcased on national television. This year, the UPA College Championships will be part of the nationwide, multi-sport CBS Collegiate Nationals event. Show airing premier dates are as follows:

Seedings and Schedules Set!

The seedings and Competition Schedules for the 2008 UPA College Championships are set. Alumni All-Star Showcase Teams Named

The College Alumni All-Star teams have been named. With top college players from all over the country, including recently graduated standouts and some stars from back in the day, these two teams are sure to provide something that everyone can get excited about. As you take a breather between college regional tournaments and anticipate who else is going to qualify for the 2008 College Championships, check out the stellar list of players that will be on display on Saturday night in Boulder. Will the East pull off a repeat, or will the West even up the series? Find a team or a player to cheer for, check out the potential individual matchups, and decide which roster you think has the edge.

Regionals Week 1 in the Books!

Almost the entire field of teams for the College Championships has now been determined. Returning UPA College Open champs, Wisconsin, defended their 2007 Central Regional title and will now head to Boulder to defend their national title. With Stanford, the 3-time defending UPA College Women's champions, out of the running, a different Women's team will take home the title for the first time since 2004. With only New Englad Regionals still coming up, people will already be making predictions and looking forward to specific matchups. Check out the College Series Results pages to see what happened in last weekend's action, and to get ready for next weekend's qualifying events!

VC Ultimate Awarded Official Merchandiser Contract

VC Ultimate has been awarded the official merchandiser contract for the 2008 UPA College Championships. The UPA and VC Ultimate are excited to be working together on one of the most exciting Ultimate events in the world and look forward to making it an unforgettable experience for participants and fans alike.

College Alumni All-Star Game

The UPA is excited about continuing with the Alumni All-Star Game that was started last year as a way to showcase the sport and entertain players and fans in conjunction with the College Championships. Following the semi-finals on Saturday, the UPA will host a showcase game between teams of former college players from throughout the country. Are you a former college star?
